Ruth E. (Ladre) Heyl, 90 years, died Saturday morning at West Acres Nursing Home, after a period of failing health. She was born in Lynn, daughter of the late Martin and Frida (Anderson) Ladre, and was the wife of the late J. Fingal Heyl. She had been a resident of Brockton since 1940 and a resident of Trinity Village since 1979. She attended Drakes College in Newark, NJ and the Salvation Army Training School in New York. She served as a captain in the Salvation Army in Hartford, CT, Philadelphia, PA, Jamestown, NY and Montclair, NJ serving the needs of the Scandinavian population.
She had been a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, Deaconess at Trinity Baptist, held Jr. Church, and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and Sunshine Committee.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David (Linda) Svenson of Nashua, NH, and Mrs. Timothy (Janet) Trask of Brockton, 7 grandchildren, Lisa Rumohr, Eric Svenson, Kirsten Svenson-Carter, Bethany Svenson, Emily Trask, Daniel Trask, Amanda Trask and six great grandchildren. She also leaves one brother David Ladre of Maine, two sisters Esther Syvertsen of Cheshire, CT and Eva Anderson of Lancaster, PA, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister-in-law of Elna Hammerquist who was not only her close friend but roommate at West Acres Nursing Home.Sister of the late Joseph Ladre
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church at a later date with burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Arrangements by the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton.
