Domenic A. Palumbo
...retired Airlines Supervisor; 72
TEWKSBURY - Domenic Anthony "Dom" Palumbo, age 72, a resident of the Eagles Landing community, died Friday night, May 18, at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers. He was the beloved husband of Pilar "Laura" (Cafaro) Palumbo.
He was born in Cambridge, March 29, 1940, one of three sons of the late Vincent and Mary (Pulusi) Palumbo. He was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. He went on to study at Boston College. He interrupted his college education to enlist into the U.S. Army, and served in Germany at the height of the Cold War years. He finished his military obligation with the Army Reserves. He lived most of his adult life in Revere, and resettled in Tewksbury last November.
He began a long career at the Airlines with Pan Am Airways, and later retired as a Supervisor in the Air Cargo Division of Delta at Logan Airport.
As a devout Catholic, he was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception in Malden, and St. William's in Tewksbury.
He was a member the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1910 in Malden.
He is survived by three children, Cynthia Palumbo-Mentas and her husband Harry of Manomet, MA, Peter Palumbo and his wife Bronwyn Keefe of Gloucester, and Anatashia Palumbo-Darrigo and her husband Peter of Tewksbury; eight grandchildren, Sam, Isaiah, and Luke Mentas, Sophia and Anabelle Palumbo, Shane, Kyle and Justin Darrigo; two brothers, Louis Palumbo of N.J. and Vincent Palumbo and his wife Lee of Revere; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated, Tuesday, May 22, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors was held in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to The ALS Association MA Chapter, 315 Norwood Park South, 1st Floor, Norwood, MA 02062, will be appreciated.
