Mary E. Blaisdell, a long-time Medford resident died peacefully at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. She was 95.
Born and raised in Boston’s West End, she was the daughter of the late William and the late Bronislava (Jurewitz) Matuza. Mary was possessed of a strong work ethic throughout her life. She began working at American Can Co. in Boston. She later embarked on a career in banking beginning at the Shawmut Bank in Boston and then later with Bay Bank, Bank Boston, Fleet Bank and Bank of America. Although she retired from her full-time position she remained as a part-time employee until she was 87. Mary was devoted to her family and remained active until recently.
The beloved wife of the late Carl Blaisdell and Frank Torcivia, Mary was a devoted mother to Annemarie Torcivia of Medford and Patricia Torcivia of Malden. She was a loving grandmother to Marc McBrearty and his wife Regina, Dawn Marie Borrelli and her husband Richard, Danielle Lockhart and her husband Brian, Derek DiFronzo and is also survived by 6 loving great-grandchildren.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, May 22nd, at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
