Richard E. ‘Dick’ Martin, 71, of 271 Pompeo Rd., passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Marcia (French) Martin, a daughter, Cynthia Preston and her husband Jeffrey of Woodstock, Ct., and a son Scott Martin and his wife Kathy of Glastonbury, Ct., 4 grandchildren; Eric and Megan Preston, Kylie and Collin Martin, 4 sisters; Shirley Lee of Florida, Doris Norcross of Oxford,MA., Claire Austin of Webster, MA., and Esther wife of Joseph Miskiewicz of Dudley, MA. and a brother; Nelson Martin and his wife Maureen of Dudley, MA., a sister-in-law, Barbara Dorman and her husband Dave, and a brother-in-law, Gordon French and his wife Catherine, and 15 nieces and nephews.
Dick was born in Webster a son of Nelson E. and Elin I. (Neilson) Martin and lived in North Grosvenordale for 40 years.
He was a graduate of Bartlett High school class of 1959. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Dick was a member of the V.F. W. Post in Quinebaug, Ct.
He worked at Pratt-Whitney Aircraft for 10 years and U.P.S. for 30 years before retiring. He was a Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed working in his yard with his John Deere.
Dick loved his grandchildren and they ‘Lit up his Life’ when they were with him.
Calling Hours for Dick will be Monday, May 21,2012 from 5 to 8 PM at the Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St., Webster, MA.
The Funeral will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 10 AM in the Funeral Home.
