Obituary

SCANLAN, Dennis J. Age 67 of Mission Hill, May 18, 2012. Loving brother of Sr. Julia Scanlan, Sister of Charity, Eileen S. “Queenie” Padua, Michael Scanlan, Kevin Scanlan, Joseph Scanlan, and the late Thomas Scanlan, and Patricia Glynn. Brother-in-law of Gerard Glynn, Kathleen Scanlan, Nellie Scanlan and Janet Scanlan. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides his loving family, Dennis was loved by a host of caring friends.
Dennis Scanlan was an outstanding human being, always willing to help wherever he was needed. His family treasured him as a kind and caring brother, uncle and nephew. He always loved Mission Hill where he had attended Mission High School and lived there for the past twenty years. He was a true friend to many, enjoying many happy occasions and trips with them, and always there for them in times of sickness or sorrow. He was Past Commander of the Mission Hill Post #327, and also was a member of the Boston Elks #10 West Roxbury Mission Main. He also belonged to the Sons of Erin, South Yarmouth, was past manager of the Killilea Club, and he was a member of the Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services.
The wake will be held at William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY. Visiting hours will be on Monday, May 21st from 3:00PM to 8:00PM. The funeral will be on Tuesday, May 22nd at 9:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Theresa Church which is across the street. Interment private. In memory of Dennis, please take a friend to dinner.
