SOBOL - Robert S. "Bob" Sobol, 74, died Wednesday evening, May 16, 2012. He was born in Worcester, MA and settled in Jacksonville, FL in 2007 after traveling extensively.
He was retired from the U. S. Navy and also retired as a Senior CT Engineer in 1998 from General Electric Medical Imaging Systems. During his careers with the Navy and with General Electric he traveled a great deal. He lived for a time in Arizona, Tampa, Saudi Arabia and Hawaii to name a few places he called home. He was very good athlete and while in the Navy during the 1960's he was a member of the All Navy Volley Ball Team and a U. S. Olympic Volleyball team alternate.
Mr. Sobol was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Jane Sobol, and by his father and mother in law, Robert and Bessie Gravitt.
Survivors include six sons, Steve Sobol, Joey Sobol, Stanley Sobol, R. Michael Sobol, Larry Garrett and Parker Garrett; a daughter, Robin Sobol Wood;his wife, Pat Sobol; one brother and sister in law, Albert and Natasha Sobol; former spouse and friend, Lonnie Sobol; good friends, Anita Evans, Doug and Nancy Bishop; and eight grandchildren.
Honoring his wishes, no services are planned. Mr. Sobol will be buried at sea by the U. S. Navy.
