Obituary

FRANKLIN—Irene Dinon 90, of Franklin, died peacefully at home, Thursday May 17, 2012 surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Born in the Roxbury section of Boston, on February 10, 1922 a daughter of the late Dioniseo and Catina (Roman) Dinon, she was a resident of Franklin for the past 15 years and was a former longtime resident of Roxbury.
Irene was raised and educated in Roxbury, and until her retirement several years ago worked as a waitress at the Harvard Club in Boston, where she was known as the “Queen of Steam” for making the best Latte’s. In her early years she worked as a welder during World War II at the South Boston Shipyard and at different factories as a seamstress.
She was affectionately known as “Nonna” to everyone in her family, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother, she enjoyed playing bingo at the Franklin Senior Center, knitting and from time to time enjoyed a good desert.
She is survived by a daughter Hope I. Carlisle and her husband Stewart of Franklin and a brother Victor Dinon of Roxbury. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Stephanie, Sarah, and Spencer Carlisle all of Franklin.
She was the sister of the late Arthur, William Dinon, Isabel Pollini, John Dinon and Yolanda Ryan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Sunday May 20th, from 2-6PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com.
Her funeral service and interment at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield will be held privately.
