BEVERLY: Rose M. (Catoggio) Callahan, 76, of The Turtle Woods Community, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Callahan who died July 2010.
Born in Boston on May 27, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose (Floramo) Catoggio. She had resided in Malden for many years before moving to Beverly twenty years ago.
A highly skilled ceramics teacher, Rose owned and operated Potpourri Ceramics on Elliott Street in Beverly for ten years. She was a multi faceted craftsman and excelled at whatever she set her hand to. She was also an active volunteer at Turtle Woods on Essex Street.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan and her husband, Robert Mitton of Beverly and Joanne LeDonne and her companion, John Gianitsopoulos both of Nottingham, NH; two sons, Joseph Callahan, Jr. of Bradford and his dear friend, Laura Wilson of Reading and John Callahan of Salem; nine grandchildren, Jenna and her husband, Eric Milman, Jeremy Mitton, Nicholas Esposito, Melissa and Melanie MacMullen, Robert LeDonne, Cassandra LeDonne and her companion, Chris Botelho, Tammie Cote and her companion, Chris Frye and Sabrina Callahan; seven great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Fran and Dick Parrott of Merrimack, NH and many loving nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Sharon Esposito and her sister, Anna Gregiore.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly from 5 – 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be privately held in the North Beverly Cemetery.
