John F. “Jack” Prendergast, a life-long Somerville resident died at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 70.
Raised in Somerville, Jack was the son of the late John W. and Anna Theresa (Crotty) Prendergast. Jack worked for the MBTA for nearly 30 years as an administrator. He also enjoyed a 35 years career with Wonderland racetrack as a ticket vendor. A member of the Sons of Italy Lodge, Jack was an active member of many other service and social clubs in Somerville. He was devoted to his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Jack leaves his wife, Irene (Higgins), as well as his children: Joseph and his wife Lisa of Bradford, John F. Jr., Cheryl, William and his wife Lindsay, Eileen and Joanne Prendergast, all of Somerville. He was a loving “Da” to Emily, John, Sylar and Dylan. He was a dear brother to Joanne Falcone of Dover, NH, Janice Forcellese and her husband Peter of Falmouth and a dear brother-in-law to Ann Wilkening and her husband Weldon of Albany, NY. Jack also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Sunday from 3 thru 9 PM and again on Monday, May 21st at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford Street, Somerville, at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
