Dorothy Browning Carter, 83, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, April 23, 2004 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery, Ambrose, Georgia. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Carter was born March 14, 1921, in Glenwood, Georgia to the late Brayford and Luella Patten Browning. She was an Army nurse during World War II and a former resident of Miami, Florida. She was a good cook, a loving mother, and a member of Arbor Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carter and one daughter, Patricia Carter Rosser.
Mrs. Carter is survived by: daughter and son-in-law: Linda & David Karle of Jacksonville, FL; son and daughter-in-law: Duane & Debbie Carter of Waycross, GA; 3 granddaughters: Kimberly Tanner, Amy Briars, and Rebecca Crosby; 4 great-grandchildren: Myra Walker, Spencer Walker, Cheyenne Howard, and Caleb Briars; and 2 brothers: James Browning of Augusta and Reese Browning of Fitzgerald.
