Obituary

Nathan A. Smith, age 74, of State Street, New London, passed away peacefully on Monday May 14th, 2012 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Mystic on December 10, 1937 one of 13 children to the late Charles and Ethel (Osborne) Smith. He was raised in Mystic.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a server in area restaurants for many years. He will be remembered as a talented vocalist and antique collector. He enjoyed visiting the beach and his regular trips to Chinese restaurants with his family.

Nathan is survived by his sisters, Bessie Stafford of Mystic and Charlotte Whipple of Pawcatuck, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Maude Whipple, Dorothy DeMoura, Robert Smith Sr., Frederick Smith, George Smith, Ethel Smith, Barbara Smith, Charles Smith Jr., and Albert Smith Sr.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 1pm-1:45pm followed by a service at 2pm. Burial will be in the family plot at Elm Grove Cemetery.
