Lawrence, Ma. – Maria Carmine (Grillo) Bonanno, 86 died Mothers Day surrounded by her loving family at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre.
Mrs. Bonanno was born in Lawrence July 9, 1925 the daughter of Antonio and Vittoria (Sarao) Grillo. She was educated in the Lawrence School System. She was a Communicant of Corpus Christi/ Holy Rosary Church, and a member of Saint Rita’s Sodality, a member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality, the Son’s of Italy Lodge 902, and the senior vice commander of chapter 2 DAV.
Maria had been employed for many years with Caldors Department Store in Methuen.
She was the former wife of the late Rocco J. Bonanno, Jr. before his passing in 1982. Survivors include two children Ronald J. Bonanno, and John R. and his wife Cyndi Bonanno all of Methuen, one sister Josephine Capaldo of Georgetown, Ma., her son-in-law Cliff Currier, and her sister-in-lawTomasina Savastano, 5 grandchildren: Norine, Timmy, RJ, Jonathan, and Nicholas, 3 great grandchildren Tricia, Danielle, and Daniella her great great granddaughter Ryleigh and many nieces and nephews..
Mrs. Bonanno was predeceased by her daughter Maureen Currier as well as several brothers.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday morning at 10 o’clock in Corpus Christi/ Holy Rosary Church of Lawrence with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
Friends will be warmly received on Thursday from 3-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
