Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Jennie (Thanos) Dumont, 86, died early Monday morning, May 14, 2012 in the Golden Living Center with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Simon N. Dumont, who died in January 1961.
Born in Ipswich on August 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Savas and Caroline (Pappadopoulos) Thanos. She graduated with high honors from Ipswich High School.
Jennie was employed as a bookkeeper for Ipswich Shell Fish, Modern Heat, and the former W. T. Grant Department Store and LePages, Inc. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna J., wife of Ronald Coutant of Marietta, GA and Diane M. MacDonald of Gloucester; three grandchildren, Bryan Jon, husband of Cynthia MacDonald, Amanda Noele, wife of David Marshall and Danielle Maray MacDonald, companion of Nathaniel Pistenmaa; eight great-grandchildren, Kylie Marae MacDonald, Christopher Muise, Caitlyn Shatford, Jaimee Horne, Richard Bryan Haight, Cruz Nicholas Ortiz, Mason Noah Ortiz and Rome Bryant Marshall; two sisters-in-law, Simone (Dumont) Begin, Geri (Dumont) Farmer; two nieces, Elizabeth Hunter and Joanne Witham Herrick, two grandnephews, Christopher and Nathaniel Hunter; many dear friends including Katherine (Maniatis) Pyne and John Rich and her precious “little one” Bailey. She was also predeceased by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Bessie (Thanos) and Paul Herrick, Simone (Thanos) Martin and Angela Thanos; two brothers, George and Anthony Thanos; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph Adelard and Georgiana (Cloutier) Dumont and sister-in-law, Dolores (Dumont) Lee.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 – 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472. Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Amesbury.
