Obituary

Grace A. Mikina, 92, of New Bedford died on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012 at the New Bedford Jewish Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Mikina.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Hugh and Viola (Boucher) Boyle, she lived in New Bedford all her life.
Mrs. Mikina was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church
She was formerly employed by A. Walecka and Son as a bookkeeper and accountant.
The family would like to thank the New Bedford Jewish Nursing Home for the excellent care that Grace received.
Survivors include 2 sons, Hugh J. Mikina of New Bedford, Michael J. Mikina of Moore, S.C.; 3 daughters, Mary Winsper and her husband Joseph Winsper, Jr. and Anne Richard, all of New Bedford, and Patricia Richard and her husband Michael of Acushnet; 11 grandchildren, Joseph Winsper, III, Patrick and Michael Winsper, Mary-Elizabeth Boucher, David and Krystel Mikina, Matthew, Brian, Jeffrey, Thomas and Jonathan Richard; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Mark Richard and the sister of the late Mary Walecka and Frances Presby.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday, May 16th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 15th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant St. New Bedford, MA 02740 or to the New Bedford Jewish Nursing Home, 200 Hawthorn St. New Bedford, MA 02740.
