Steven R. Stanford, 53, of Oliver Street, a Regional Logistics project manager for T Mobile, died Friday, May 11, 2012. He was the husband of Geralyn B. (Bouchard) Stanford.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida he was the son of Deniece Gayle (Craven) Ramsey and her husband, Charles of Clearmont, FL and the late Robert I. Stanford. He had lived in Smithfield since 1975 and had previously lived in Pennsylvania.
He was a NCAA and CBOA basketball referee for 30 years, a volunteer referee for the Special Olympics and was the coordinator of the Smithfield Men’s Summer Basketball league. He had served in the US Air Force.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his children: Mary Elizabeth Cote of Harrisburg, PA, Matthew Steven and Jon Robert Stanford, both of Smithfield, his three grandchildren: Jackson, Maxwell and Lauren Cote and his siblings: Linda Wellman of Saginaw, MI, Cid Stanford, of Chicago, IL, David Stanford of Clearmont, FL and Wendy Porter of Richmond, VA. He was the brother of the late Michael Stanford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Georgiaville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Visitation Tuesday 4-8pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
