Obituary

Robert Grosvenor Cook, 56, of Derry, NH died Saturday evening Oct. 20, 2001 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Keene, NH on May 17, 1945, the son of the late Don and Esther (Pope) Cook. He was raised and educated in Keene and graduated from Keene State College in 1967. Mr. Cook worked for the Bedford School District for 34 years, most recently as a 7th grade social studies teacher at McKelvie Middle School, Bedford, NH. He began his teaching career there in 1967, and later held positions of assistant principal and principal in Bedford before returning to the classroom twelve years ago. He retired from teaching in January due to illness. Mr. Cook was also Moderator at First Parish Church of East Derry for 14 years. He enjoyed golf, bird hunting, model trains and Penn State football, and was an accomplished pianist.

He is survived by his wife, Susan (Blake) Cook, his daughter, Abigail Grosvenor Diehl, and his sister, Nancy Guyette.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday Oct. 23rd from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9pm in the Peabody Funeral Home, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. The family will hold a memorial service on Wednesday Oct. 24th at 5:00pm in the First Parish Congregational Church, 47 Hampstead Rd., East Derry, followed by a light supper at the church. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Piano Restoration Fund, McKelvie School, 108 Liberty Hill Road, Bedford, NH 03110.
