Mr. John Jarrell Cooper
Augusta, GA---Mr. John Jarrell Cooper, 86, entered into rest on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Ogeechee Area Hospice Center, Statesboro, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 14, 2012 at Central Christian Church with Reverend Dr. Emmitt Tip Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery.
Mr. Cooper was a native of Augusta. He retired from George Perkins Construction Company and was a member of Central Christian Church. He was an avid golfer and was a long time member of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course “The Cabbage Patch” for many years and was also an avid Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan. He especially enjoyed the fellowship and having coffee with his friends in the McDonald’s Coffee Club.
Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Regis Cooper, son, Ray Cooper, both of Augusta, daughter, Kay Nessmith (Ricky) of Statesboro, GA, brother, Russell Cooper of Martinez, GA, sister, Marian Pardue of Augusta, four grandchildren, Kelly Chappell (Scott), Michelle McNeil (Bubba), Mitchell Cooper and Allison Adams and four great grandchildren.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital and to Dr. James Alvin Cato, nurses and staff at Ogeechee Area Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
