Columbia, SC — Eric Eugene Bertram 49, of Columbia, SC and a former longtime Franklin resident, died Tuesday May 8, 2012. He was the father of Corey J. Bertram of San Francisco, CA, and the former husband of Wendy (Layman) Bertram of Franklin.
Born in Boston on April 11, 1963 a son of the late Hazel Diane (Moulton) and Ralph “Toke” Bertram, he was raised and educated in various states including Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Florida and was a 1981 graduate of Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin.
He was a longtime employee for the Town of Franklin Department of Public Works. He also worked as a boilermaker for B&D Boiler Repair, at the time of his death he was working as an over the road truck driver for Greatwide Transportation Services in Columbia, South Carolina.
A man who enjoyed riding motorcycles and barbecue cooking, he was a member of Uncle Jed’s Barbecue Team, as well as a longtime member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Motorcycle Organization.
In addition to his son and former wife, he is survived by his stepmother, Mildred “Millie” (Green) Bertram of Franklin, two brothers: Kyle and his wife Kellee (Trundley) Bertram and David Menize all of Franklin, two sisters: Kimberly Crowley of Arizona and Brenda Moniz and her husband Donn Antonia of Franklin, as well as five nieces and nephews: Madison (17), Rachel (14), Connor (8), Nathan (6) and Samantha (5).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday evening May 14, 2012, at 8:00 PM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com .
Calling hours are Monday, May 14, 2012 from 3 – 8 PM prior to the service.
