Charlottesville, VA--Oscar A. Bilezerian, 83, formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at home following a long illness. He leaves his wife of 33 years, Ingeborg Bilezerian of Charlottesville, VA; his sons, Paul A. Bilzerian and Mark S. Bilzerian, both of Tampa, FL and Alfred T. Bilezerian of Sharpsburg, GA; his daughters, Deborah C. Lambert of Westborough and Diane I. Pratt of Yonkers, NY; his brothers, David A. Bilzerian, Alexander Bilzerian, and Arthur A. Bilzerian—all of Worcester; 9 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lois G. Marinen and a sister, Margaret L. Abajian.
He was born in Worcester, son of Alexander and Lucy (Danielian) Bilzerian. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1938 and the University of Miami in 1950. Mr. Bilezerian served in the U.S. Army during WWII earning a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for combat action in Belgium, France, and Germany. He was awarded the Belgian Croix De Guerre. He worked for the U.S. government as a comptroller for the Foreign Science Technology Center in several locations including France, Germany, and Charlottesville before retiring in 1986. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and outdoorsman throughout his life and enjoyed extensive traveling with his wife.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 26, at 11:00 a.m. in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 5 – 8 p.m., Sunday in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester, with a Dahngark Service at 6 p.m. Flowers may be sent or contributions may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
