Josephine M. Coccoluto, age 98, a longtime resident of Woburn passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on May 9th following a lengthy period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank A. Coccoluto and together they shared 43 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1979. Born in Bethel, Vermont where she was raised and educated, she was one of seven children of the late Martino and Giovannino (Berini) Borella.
Josephine was a hardworking and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a talented seamstress and extraordinary cook as well as an award winning baker. She cherished spending time with her family and nothing gave her more joy than having them all together for a family feast. She was always hands on and never shied away from any tough job. She also enjoyed knitting and tending to her garden.
Josephine is survived by her children, Joan Prokop of Woburn and her late husband Robert, Frank A. Coccoluto Jr. and wife Annette of Woburn, and Elaine Worsham and her husband John of Burlington. She was the loving grandmother of Paul and Robert Prokop, Frank and Dan Coccoluto, Peggy Coccoluto - Hill, Susan Boyd, Stephen Worsham and Jennifer Miskelly. She is also survived by her loving great grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew, Casey, Paige, Riley, Kevin, Cali, Lauren, Ben, Jordan, Morgan, Joshua, Andrew and the late Eric. She is further survived by her sisters, Nora Salvio of CT, Catherine Pettengill and Elsie Benson both of VT and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband she is predeceased by her brothers, the late John, Aldo and Dante Borella.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Monday, May 14th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Sunday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
