Obituary

Thomas W. Champlin of 42 Kings Highway, Gales Ferry, passed peacefully from this world on the evening of May 9, 2012. Thomas was born in Norwich CT on September 16, 1918. He spent his early years working on area farms and then joined the Army to proudly serve his country in World War II. He then worked at Electric Boat retiring after 29 years.

He married his wife of 62 years, Alice Avery, on January 21, 1950. She survives. He is also survived by a large extended family that includes four children, Vincent Champlin and wife Pamela of North Stonington, son Stephen Champlin of Ledyard, daughter Brenda Morse and husband Andy of East Lyme, daughter Elaine Koch and husband Dan of St. Mary’s, Georgia, and daughter-in-law Nancy Champlin of Ledyard. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, and special friends and neighbors Mike and Patty Congdon. He was predeceased by a son Russell I. Champlin.

Thomas loved working outdoors, watching the Red Sox and reading.

A Memorial Service for Thomas W. Champlin will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church, 10 Chapman Lane, Gales Ferry. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
