William C. Dissinger, 75

William C. Dissinger, 75, of Mansfield, a cherished husband, father and grandfather passed away at Sturdy Memorial Hospital on Tuesday May 8, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Anne (Sullivan) Dissinger, to whom he was wed on July 3, 1971.
Born in Willimantic, CT on May 16, 1936, he was a dear son of the late LeRoy and Marguerite (St. John) Dissinger.
A former School Psychologist for the Bethel, CT and Easton, MA public schools, Bill was a graduate of Muhlenberg College, which he attended on a basketball scholarship. He held advanced degrees from The University of Hartford and Fairfield University. An all-around gifted athlete in his younger days, Bill was an enthusiastic skier and accomplished swimmer.
Prior to his illness, he enjoyed biking, camping, competing in road races and sprint triathlons. However, his greatest passion in life by far was his adoring family. Bill especially took great joy and pride in his daughters’ accomplishments. He lovingly encouraged them and never missed any of their activities, swim meets or musical performances.
In addition to his beloved wife of more than 40 years, he leaves his devoted daughters, Kristin Marie Dissinger of Portland, OR, and Jennifer Anne Pratt of Attleboro, his son-in-law, John Pratt of Attleboro, and his cherished grandchildren, Julia Grace Pratt, Melanie Rose Pratt and Tyler William Pratt all of Attleboro. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Patricia C. Sullivan of North Attleboro.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, May 14th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 13th from 5-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
