Obituary

Mr. Thomas Joseph Cleary, Jr., a resident of Medford since 1958 and beloved husband of Shirley M. (Mackey) Cleary, died after a brief illness in Medford on Monday, May 7, 2012. He was 86 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 30, 1926, Mr. Cleary was the beloved son of the late Thomas J. and Florence (McCarthy) Cleary. Mr. Cleary was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran and served as a waist gunner on the B-24 Liberator. Tom was a manager for New England Telephone Company for more than 39 years. In his spare time Mr. Cleary traveled the world from Hong Kong to Marakesh with the love of his life Shirley. He was an avid reader, scholar of World War II and British Royalty, enjoyed playing golf and above all Tom was devoted to his adoring family.
In addition to Shirley, his wife of more than 62 years, Tom will be very sorely missed by his loving daughter and son-in-law; Ellen and her husband James H. Toms of Medford, son and daughter-in-law; Thomas W. and his wife Susan M. (Pelleriti) Cleary of Winchester, devoted brother and sister-in-law; John and his wife Mary Cleary of Quincy, cherished grandchildren; Jason Toms and Sarah and Thomas Cleary and several nieces.
