Barbara W. Burns a Needham resident for 25 years died on Friday April 2, 2004. Mrs. Burns was born in Syracuse NY and was a graduate of Syracuse University with a BA in Fine Arts. Mrs. Burns will always be remembered as being devoted to her family. She was active in the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church, The Needham Senior Center and the Senior Bowling League. Mrs. Burns was also a volunteer at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. The wife of the late William E. Burns, she was the loving mother of Barbara B. Carr and her husband Richard C. Carr of Needham and the late W. Michael Burns and his wife Diana T. Burns of Shrewsbury. She was the sister of Margaret W. Palmer of Maryland and the grandmother of Michael R. Carr of Houston TX, Eric W. Carr of Needham, William C. Carr of Boston and Caroline D. Gates of Shrewsbury and great grandmother of MacKinley M. Carr. A Memorial Service will be held at the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church 800 Highland Avenue Needham on Saturday May 8 at 2:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in Barbara’s name may be made to Rosie’s Place 889 Harrison Avenue Boston MA 02118 or to a charity of your choice.
