WEST BROOKFIELD – Arthur T. Phillips, 95, of 88 Shea Road, passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at his daughter Laura’s house in West Brookfield.
He was predeceased by his wife Laura (Abbott) Phillips whom he was married to for 67 years; his sister Gertrude (Phil) Painter; brother John; great grandson Corey Kuzio and great grandson Michael Shepardson.
He leaves his four sons and two daughters, Philip Phillips and his companion Karen of Charlton, MA; Pat Phillips and his wife Marion of Rehoboth, MA; George Phillips and his wife Susan of Holland, MA; Laura DeLuca and her husband Frank of West Brookfield, MA; Marcia Shepardson and her husband Michael of Ft. Myers, FL; Sherman Phillips and his wife Christine of Charlton MA; his sister Marge Fitzgerald of Hudson, MA; his daughter-in-law Louise Phillips of Charlton, MA; son-in-law Bruce Decker of Spencer, MA; 13 grandchildren, Scott, Kim, Tim, Bry, John, Heather, Sean, Joshua, Garrett, Becky, Heidi, Jadrienne, Bradley and 19 great grandchildren, Taylor, Jessica, Jordan, Alexander, Riley, Brady, Brandon, Devin, Ryan, Ella, Sarah, Amber, Logan, Jayme, Madison, Devin, Madden, Ivan and Delaney.
Arthur was born, married and started his family in Southbridge, MA , the son of Percy and Isabel (McKay) Phillips, moved to Pawtucket RI, back to Southbridge, raised his family in Charlton Depot and retired to Bradenton Florida. He loved to fish and boat in Narragansett, golf at Cohasse, bet on the horses, watch every televised sport and most of all celebrate the holidays with his entire family.
Arthur was a World War II Veteran over Italy as a B-25 Mitchell type aircraft navigator in the Army Air Force. He worked for Hyde Manufacturing in Southbridge MA and as a salesman for Quaker State Motor Oil.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday , May 8th 1PM at Oak Ridge Cemetery on Oak Ridge Avenue in Southbridge.
