Grace D. Maloney - Shiel 97, of Natick died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in Natick.
She was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Shiel Jr. who died in 1998, and beloved wife of the late Walter J. Maloney who died in 1979.
A lifelong resident of Natick she was born in Newton the fourth child of nine children, of the late Arthur and Daisy (MacKeil) Bernard.
Grace was a former Registered Nurse working in the Emergency Room at Framingham Union Hospital.
She was an avid golfer, and still enjoyed playing the game until she was 89.
She was a member of Framingham Country Club and a former member of Marlborough and Millwood Country Clubs.
She was a volunteer at Leonard Morse Hospital for many years, and was a former member of the Ladies Sodality Club of St Patrick’s Parish.
Grace was a devout Catholic and a daily Communicant at St Patrick’s Church.
She attended the Natick School system and was a graduate of Natick High School class of 1933, and graduated from Framingham Union School of Nursing class of 1936.
She is survived by her four devoted children, Marsha Welburn and her husband Ted of Wellesley, Donald Maloney and his wife Donna of Manchester CT, James Maloney and his wife Colleen of Holliston, Betty Chase and her husband John of Turner Maine, 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, a sister, Barbara Bitzer of NH, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Janet Maloney.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Patrick’s Church at 10:00 A.M.
Visiting hours Monday 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Interment St Patrick Cemetery.
