Obituary

CHICOPEE – Frank L. Samson, Sr., 84, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life at Hartford Hospital surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers. He was born at home in Chicopee on September 26, 1927, a beloved son of the late Thomas and Rosanna (Brault) Samson. He was raised in Chicopee, attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and attained the rank of Corporal. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Area and participated in the Occupation of China. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee and was employed for 37 years as a tire inspector at the former Fisk Tire and Rubber Company which later became the Uniroyal Corporation. Following the closing of the plant, he worked part-time for All Pro at Westover Air Force Base. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee and was a member of the American Legion Post 452 and the Amvets Post 12, both in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Eleanor M. (Jangrow) Samson. They were married on September 19, 1953 at Saint Mary Church in Westfield and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. He also leaves: his loving children, Debbie A. Parent and her husband, Mark, and Frank L. Samson, Jr., all of Chicopee; his three cherished grandchildren, Sarah Aubrey and her husband, Michael, Christopher Young and Rachel Young; his two cherished great grandchildren, Noah and Adam Aubrey; his dear sister, Rita Wysk of Chicopee; and several dear brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother and sister, Roger Samson and Florence Beaudoin. His funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, May 8, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with Military Honors will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends prior to the Mass at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, May 8, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
