Maria Petruzziello, a longtime Medford resident, died Wednesday at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. She was 89.
Maria was born and raised in Pratola Serra, Avellino, Italy, the daughter of the late Angelo and Fiorentina (DeCicco) Leone. A Medford resident for over 40 years, Maria was devoted to her family. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and sewing.
The beloved wife of the late Domenico, who died in 2005, she was a devoted mother to Angela Guarino and her husband Joseph of Medford, Lilly Ioakim and her husband Andreas of Stoneham, Fiorella Sutera and her husband Charles of Methuen, Giuliana Marcellino of Medford and her late husband Vincent, Angelo Petruzziello and his wife Dawn of NH. Lovingly survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, she was a dear sister of the late Ciriaco, Antonio, Gerardo, Rosa and Rinaldo Leone and also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday evening from 4 through 8 PM and again on Saturday, May 5th, at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
