TAUNTON - David L. DeSousa, husband of Maria H. (DeSousa) DeSousa, died at his Taunton home on May 1, 2012.
He was 80.
Born, raised and educated in Ponta Ruiva, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio L. and Maria (Freitas) DeSousa.
Mr. DeSousa was educated in the Azores and served in the Portuguese Army before moving to the Taunton area in 1974.
Employed by Texas Instruments in Attleboro for over twenty five-years, he retired in 1997.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, Mr. DeSousa enjoyed gardening, cooking and working on his son’s dairy farm.
His favorite pastime was enjoying the company of his family.
Besides his wife of fifty-five years, Maria, he leaves three sons, Jose A. DeSousa of Taunton, Jose M. DeSousa of Rehoboth, and Celestino DeSousa of Taunton; a daughter, Maria Hurley of Taunton; a brother, Antonio L. DeSousa of Portugal; his twin sister, Judith DeSousa of Taunton; his sister, Adelina Avelar of Portugal; eight grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday May 4th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m.
