Lota Harrell Merritt, age 88, of Douglas, GA passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Merritt was born on April 24, 1924, in Axson, GA to the late Needham Henry and Lanie Rutherford Harrell. She was a member of Rocky Pond Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Linda (Donald) McKinnon, of Beaumont, TX; two sons, Jerry (Marie) Merritt, of Brooksville, FL and Larry Homer Merritt, of Douglas, GA; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Homer Merritt, a son and daughter in law, Jim and Peggy Merritt.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 30, 2012 from 4-8 pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Rocky Pond Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Fussell and Rev. Larry Stone and Linda McKinnon officiating. Interment followed at Rocky Pond Baptist Church Cemetery.
