Richard Peck, 72, of Valdosta (formerly of Fitzgerald), died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
Graveside services will be held at 4 P.M., Sunday, April 29 in the Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Ernie Jones and the Rev. Ronny Griner officiating.
Mr. Peck was born October 8, 1939 in Gainesville to the late Roy Lee and Bertha Cain Peck. He was a 1957 graduate of Riverbend High School. He was a heavy equipment operator in the highway construction industry and the former owner/operator of Peck Trucking Company. He retired to Valdosta for the last 6 years, moving from Fitzgerald. Mr. Peck was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Valdosta.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Jean H. Peck of Valdosta; sons: Richard Gregory Peck of Madison, Anthony “Tony” Peck of Fitzgerald, and Chadwick Jason Peck of Hahira; daughter: Sonya P. Underwood of Tifton; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister: Shirlee Sabattini of Tampa, FL; and a brother: Kenneth Peck of Pensacola, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Peck.
