Elsie Hughes Brower, age 77, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Yalobusha General Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. She was born March 13, 1935 in Coffeeville, MS to the late Claude and Katie Shaw Hughes. Elsie worked for many years as a treasurer for Human Services in Yalobusha County. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and building and repairing things as she was very mechanically inclined. Elsie loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Coffeeville, MS.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 5:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Dr. Gene Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Yalobusha County, MS with Noel Hughes, Michael Ingram, Shawn Hughes, Michael Bardo, David Brower, and Claude A. Hughes serving as pallbearers.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Bobby L. Brower; a daughter, Lisa B. Smith of Brandon, MS; two sons, Roger W. Brower (Carolyn) of Water Valley, MS and Tracy Brower of Coffeeville, MS; three sisters, Sue Humphreys of Brandon, MS, Jane Clayton of TX and Ann Fife (Frank) of CA; two brothers, Ralph Hughes (Marie) of Batesville, MS and Claude A. Hughes (Teresa) of Coffeeville, MS; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Baggley; two brothers, Lloyd Hughes and Boyd Hughes; a granddaughter, Lacey Marie Brower; and a great grandson, Austin Winburn.
