Brandon, FL: Phyllis E. (Bolin) Safford, 88, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at home in Brandon, FL. She leaves her daughter, Karen Safford- Utenis and her husband Algis Utenis of Ipswich, MA; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Dana Richmond Safford and 2 sisters Eleanor LaViolette and Ruth Getchus.
Phyllis was born in Worcester, daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Chick) Bolin. She graduated from Classical High School and worked at David Clark Co. making astronaut uniform patterns. She then worked as a unit secretary at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a Christian, Patriot, loving mother, artist, published author, and poet. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, music, puzzles, picnics, nature walks, and ice cream. She served as President of the Brandon Puzzle Club.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605 is directing arrangements.
