NATICK: William T. “Bill” Maloon, Jr., 90, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 25, 2012 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Natick on December 9, 1921 the son of the late William T. Maloon and Rose (Roche) Maloon.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife Shirley (Hosmer) Maloon of Wayland formerly of Natick and Plymouth. He was the brother of Robert E. Maloon and his wife Patricia M. Maloon of Natick and Rita Grassey Sanborn of Natick. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Terhune and Arthur Maloon.
Bill has been a lifelong resident of Natick and spent his retirement years with Shirley at their home in Plymouth which they both enjoyed He was a graduate of Natick High School with the Class of 1939. He served his country proudly during World War II with the United States Navy with the Amphibious Force as a Machinist Mate First Class. He had a distinguished career for over 32 years with the Town of Natick Police Department and retired in 1983 as a Lieutenant. He was a member of the Natick Lodge of Elks, Natick Post 107 of the American Legion, the Natick Police Relief Association and the Massachusetts Police Association.
Visitations will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Hosmer-Maloon family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests that memorial gifts in Bill’s memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
