William R. MacLeod, 58, of Norton, passed away unexpectedly at home, on Thursday April 26, 2012, following a 9 year struggle with heart disease. He was the beloved husband of Patricia J. (Gilbert) MacLeod, to whom he was wed for the past 33 years.
Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, Canada on February 9, 1954, he was a dear son of the late Claude J. “Dingie” and Mary K. (MacDonald) MacLeod.
Billy spent his early childhood living in Nova Scotia. At age 8, his family moved to the United States and settled in Norwood, where he grew up and was a 1973 graduate of Norwood High School.
A Norton resident for the past 26 years, Mr. MacLeod was a Senior Laboratory Supervisor at FM Global in Norwood, where he had where he had a career that span over 30 years.
Billy loved all Boston sports, but especially loved the New England Patriots. He was a proud Canadian/American who loved life, his pets and his friends. His hobbies included playing golf and fishing.
In addition to his beloved wife Pat, he is survived by his siblings; Herbie MacLeod, Carolyn MacLeod and Claudia MacLeod all of Nova Scotia and the late Rebecca Rushton. He was the brother in law of Rick Gilbert of Wellfleet, Roger Gilbert of Framingham, Margaret Marshall of Mansfield and Linda Gilbert Norwood. Billy is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday May 1st at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday April 30th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Billy’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
