George W GoldingGeorge W Golding Jr. of Needham, died on Feb. 16, 2004 at his home. He was 82 years of age and recently widowed in 2001 after a 58 year marriage to Margaret L (Nordwell) Golding. Born in Waldoboro ME and growing up in Norwalk CT, he had lived in Needham since 1948, except for sometime spent in Puerto Rico with his wife and family. George graduated from Worcester Poly Tech in 1943 with a degree in Engineering first working at the Boston Naval yard and later for a Boston Engineering Firm with a division in Puerto Rico. Among his many interest, including Clipper Ships, he was an active member of the Maine Chapter of the Mayflower Society. He spent many of his later years researching geneology as a member of the Geneology Society in Boston & at the Mayflower Society in Plymouth, where he denoted commissioned art work of the Mayflower to the Society. He was also a member of the MA Assoc. of Civil Engineers as well as a member of the Christ Episcopal Church of Needham. George was also a very devoted owner of his Shetland sheepdogs. Mr. Golding is survived by his two daughters, Ann W Golding of Sandwich and Elizabeth J Schwab and her husband Fredric R of Charlottesville, VA, one grandson Edward A Schwab and great grandson Zachary Schwab and many relatives and friends.Memorial Services will be held on Saturday May 1, 11:00 AM at the Christ Episcopal Church Chapel, 1132 Highland Ave. Needham.
