Obituary

Raymond R. "Ray" Blauvelt, 72, of Worcester, died Wednesday, April 25th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus. He leaves his extended family, Richard Hunt and his wife, Nicole A. Brathwaite-Hunt of Worcester and their children, Sarah, Anna, Zaviar and Jullian as well as many good friends and neighbors. His long time friend, George G. Fortin died in 2009.

Mr. Blauvelt was born in Bridgeport, CT and graduated from Bullard Havens Tech. He retired in 1977 from the United States Navy after 20 years of service achieving the rank of Hospital Corpsman First Class. Raymond later worked at the Willows Nursing Home and Beaumont Nursing Home, retiring in 1997. He was a member of All Saints Church, the retired Enlisted Association, WGBH and a life member of Far East Lodge #1, Yokohama, Japan and the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Japan.

His memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 16th at 4:30 PM in All Saint’s Church, 10 Irving Street. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name High School Scholarship Fund, c/o George Fortin Scholarship, 144 Granite Street, Worcester, MA 01604 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
