John F. “Jack” Morrissey, Jr., 85

Dateline: Norton, MA

John F. “Jack” Morrissey, Jr., 85, of Norton, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, on Tuesday April 24, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy L. (Laboissonniere) Morrissey, to whom he was wed on July 1, 1950.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 15, 1926, he was a loving son of the late John F., Sr. and Ida M. (Steen) Morrissey.
Jack grew up and was educated in Providence. He had made his home in Norton for over 55 years.
A retired supervisor, Mr. Morrissey had worked for several years at the Mason Box Co. in North Attleboro and had previously been employed at the former Sweet Paper Box Co. in Norton.
Jack’s hobbies included camping, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his adoring family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the many wonderful seasons spent camping in Jamestown, Rhode Island.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 62 years, he is survived by his devoted children; Jo-Ann Russo and her husband Peter of Wrentham, Diane M. Liias and her husband Leo of Peabody, John F. “Jack” Morrissey, III and his wife Tammy of Norton, Dorothy L. Morris and her husband Michael of Taunton and Catherine M. Lavoie of Norton. The dear brother of Florence Morrissey, Shirley Paulette and Mary Pennacchini all of Rhode Island and the late Ida Hanfield and Fred Dodge, he is also survived by his cherished 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday May 2nd at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday May 1st from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Jack’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Community VNA Hospice Care, 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
