William Frederick Leisman, JRLeisman, William F Jr, of the Villages, Fl formerly of PA and MA. Died on Sunday, April 18 at 78 years of age. Born Dec. 15, 1925 in Harrisburg, PA the only child of the late William F and Josephine (Bonitz) Leisman. He was reared and educated in PA then resided in MA from 1963 until his move to FL in 2001. Following graduation from Haverford High School, Mr. Leisman enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served as an Air Navigator in the South Pacific Theater for 36 Months and was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of PA in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree and received the Chartered Life Underwriters and the Chartered Financial Consultant degrees from the American College in 1958 and 1987 respectively. He joined New York Life as an agent following graduation from college and served as a General Manager of its Harrisburg, Manhattan and Boston offices, retiring from that company in 1986. He was a member of the Boston Life Underwriters Association and served as its President in 1976. He received the “Albert E. Richardson” Service Award in 1986 for distinguished service to the life insurance industry and to his community. William was an avid golfer and a former member of both the Weston Golf club and the White Cliffs Country Club. Sailing, gardening, cooking and painting were other strong interests of his. Mr. Leisman was a Charter Member of the new Covenant United Methodist Church of “The Villages”FL and asked that memorial contributions be made to their building fund, c/o 4477 East County Rd. 466; Oxford, FL 34484 or to the Hospice of Lake & Sumter, 12300 Lane Park Rd. Tavares FL 32778.Bill is survived by his beloved wife Sarah (Gordon). Mr. Leisman was previously married to the late Gail (Frank) and leaves a large devoted family. Sons, William F III of Weston, MA, Timothy M. of Sudbury MA, Kurt R. of Chanhassen, MN and daughters, Amy Mahony of Sudbury MA, Beth Lynch of Sudbury MA, Heather M. of Boston and Laurie Woodman of Essex. Also Stepdaughters, Lisa Finn of New Bedford MA and Rachel Nighan of Northbridge, MA. Grampy is also survived by 18 grandchildren. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8:00 PM at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham Ma (Exit 19B off Rt 128). Funeral Services will be held on Thursday 11;00 AM at the Trinitarian Church of Wayland, 53 Cochituate Rd. Private Burial will be held on Friday at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
