Obituary

Betty A Sheinis age 84, passed away on Thursday April 19th 2012 of natural causes.

She was the beloved wife of Dr. Arnold Sheinis of Natick and cherished mother of Professor Andrew Sheinis of Sydney Australia, Philip Sheinis of Carver Ma., and Daniel Sheinis of Austin Texas. In addition to her sons, Betty is survived by their wives Cietta, Debbie, and Himiko, as well as. Her grandchildren; Brianna, Jake, Josh, Hailey, Arlo, Ian, and Peter.

Betty was born on September 27 1927 and grew up in rural East TN, she was the descendent of Smokey Mountain people. She was a wonderful person in every way. A brave and beautiful woman, exceptional artist, great wife and mother. In 1946 at the age of 19 she won a scholarship to the prestigious Cooper Union Art Institute and moved by herself to New York City where she met Arnold, who was also studying at Cooper Union. In the 1950’s Betty was an award-winning editorial illustrator for the Washington Post. For the next 10 years she devoted herself to her 3 sons and in 1970 returned to the workforce as an editorial and advertising illustrator for the Middlesex News. She specialized in watercolor painting and writing and illustrating children’s books.

Betty will be especially remembered for her passion for the simple things in life; sharing her love of art and spending time with family.

Betty touched the lives of many people with her genuine, unassuming , and unpretentious nature. She will be so greatly missed. A memorial will be held for her friends and family at the Everett Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick MA 508-653-4342 on Monday April 23, from 1-3pm.
