Emory D. McMillan, Sr., 87, of Ocilla, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Osceola Healthcare.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, April 22, at Ocilla Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Dowdle officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. McMillan was born May 7, 1924 in Tift County to the late Robert H., Sr. and Mattie Connell McMillan. A graduate of Tift County High School, he attended Holland School for Jewelers. He served in the United States Army during World War II before moving to Irwin County in 1948. Mr. McMillan, a Certified Master Jeweler, was co-owner with his wife Eula of McMillan's Jewelers. He was a member, former Sunday School teacher and Deacon of the Ocilla Baptist Church. He recently received awards from the American Legion Post 100 and the American Legion National Association for 60 years of continuous membership in those organizations.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Eula M. McMillan of Ocilla, GA; Sons and daughters-in-law, E. David, Jr. and Donna McMillan of Clayton, GA and Tommy and Linda McMillan of Brunswick, GA; Grandchildren, Kate (Richard) Brannen, M’ryanne (Blaine) Peacock and Miriam (Kirk) Shook; Great grandchildren, Ryan Brannen, Rachel Brannen, Witt Brannen, Emma Peacock, Abby Peacock and Maggie Peacock. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, R.H. McMillan, Jr. and Edwin McMillan and a sister, Inez Patton.
