Betty Jo Clements Daughtry, 78, of Mexico Beach, Florida, formerly of Enigma, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital/Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Larry Layfield will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1949-50 basketball team of Enigma High School. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 21, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be meeting at the home of Betty Cromer-Clements at 275 West County Line Road in Sycamore.
Mrs. Daughtry was born on November 29, 1933 in Enigma and was the daughter of Frank Clements and Laura Jane Exum Clements, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Vernice B. Clements; one brother, James Franklin Clements; and one sister, Ruth Stowe. She was a retired registered nurse and her special interests were coupon collecting, collecting
Beanie Babies and traveling. She had lived in Mexico Beach for the last 26 years.
Mrs. Daughtry is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold “Skip” and Karen Daughtry, Luthur “Alan” and Tracey Poole and William “Rusty” and Wendi Poole, one daughter and son-in-law, Martha “Sherl” and Lewis Lavender; one brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” and Betty Clements of Tifton; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a special long-time friend and caregiver, Janet Jones.
