AUBURN – Eva Marie (Dufresne) Carter, 105, passed away on Friday, April 16 peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Eva was born on October 19, 1898 in St. Liboire, P.Q., Canada daughter of Leon and Orge (Gauthier) Dufresne.
Her husband of 40 years Arthur O. Carter died on April 25, 1960. She leaves two sons Arthur H. Carter husband of Jeanne of Auburn and Robert W. Carter of Orlando, FL and his wife Gloria who died in 2002; two daughters Vivian E. Carter of Auburn with whom she lived and Arlene J. Crowe wife of Richard of Worcester; 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son Clement O. Carter husband of Marsha of Tennessee died in 1982; two brothers and three sisters.
Eva was the proud holder of the “Boston Post Cane” for being the oldest citizen in the town of Auburn.
She was a parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Worcester. She was a housewife who loved cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing, knitting and traveling. Her favorite times were spent with all her family and friends.
Her funeral will be on Tuesday, April 20 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.RoyFuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a mass at 10 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church 53 Illinois St. Worcester. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Notre Dame Cemetery. All are invited to calling hours on Monday, April 19 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
