Obituary

A caring person who had devoted her life to helping and supporting others passed away on April 10.
Lucille Snow Boyd, 88, the daughter of Isaiah Snow and Helen Maker, was born and lived her entire life in Truro. After graduating from Provincetown High School in 1924, she worked at variety of jobs to support her family before starting her 30 year career in public service. From her first position as a clerk to the Truro Board of Selectman; she focused her efforts toward helping needy people – first working in the town of Truro as their social worker, then in Wellfleet serving both towns and later retiring from a position with supervisory responsibility for social services in all the outer Cape towns.
When not engaged in fund raising for the visiting nurses’ association, volunteering at the AIM thrift shop; tending Truro’s public gardens or delivering meals on wheels; she enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada, hooking rugs, quilting and sewing and living off the land – gardening, clamming and picking wild berries. Her annual Christmas packages of handmade jams and jellies were always a special gift.
In addition to her brother, Isaiah Snow of Truro, she is survived by three children: her son Lee Perry and his wife Michele of Litchfield Park, Arizona ; her son William E. Medders of Truro; and her daughter Lynda L. Medders of Cotuit; four grandchildren : Rebecca Perry of Peoria Arizona; Christopher Perry of Peoria, Arizona; Alison Stewart of Waddell, Arizona and Amanda Torres of Haverill; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren- the latest being born on April 8 . She is predeceased by two former husbands: Warren L. Perry of Provincetown and James E. Medders of Paris, Texas and her husband Walter T. Boyd of Truro.
Her family will accompany her to her final resting place in the Snow Cemetery in Truro – a family cemetery donated to the town by her and her brother Isaiah in 1995. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In recognition of their support and care giving, Lucille and her family request that donations be made in her memory to the Truro Rescue Squad, PO Box 2080, Truro, Massachusetts 02666.
