George S. Simmons, Jr., 84, of Worcester, died April; 8, 2012 in
the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence. His wife of 45 years, Alice C.
(Cesnickas) Simmons died in 1995. He was also predeceased by his two sons,
George S. Simmons III, and Michael J. Simmons.
He leaves a daughter-in-law, Margaret M. Simmons; a brother, Robert M.
Simmons of Lakeland, Fl., two grandchildren, Deborah Fletcher and Steven Simmons
and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, a son of Carolyn
(Lombardi) and George S. Simmons, Sr., and lived here all his life.
Mr. Simmons was a sous chef at Tatnuck Country Club, Sheraton Lincoln and
Pleasant Valley Country Club for several years before retiring. Before then he
was a drop forger for the Wyman Gordon Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World
War II and served on the USS Chandeleur in the South Pacific. George was an
avid sports enthusiast.
The private funeral will be held on Thursday April 12 in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL
HOME, 298 Grafton St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
