Paul M. Sheerin, Sr. age 91 of Scituate died on Friday, April 13, 2012 at South Shore Hospital. Mr. Sheerin was a son of the late Joseph and Kathleen (Coughlan) Sheerin. He was born and raised in Jamaica Plain, moving to Scituate with his family in 1950.
Over the span of his career, Mr. Sheerin managed the Majestic Theater in Boston, was a cost accountant for the construction combine of Morrison-Knudson-Keiwet and C. J. Mamey, was a buyer and in sales with the Zayre Corp., and J.M. Fields Dept. Stores and also store manager for the Arthur S. Palmer Co., Scituate.
Mr. Sheerin was twice elected President of the original Scituate High School Boosters Club, twice elected secretary of the Scituate Lions Club and a Director of the Scituate Chamber of Commerce. In 1989 he was appointed to the search committee for a new Chief of Police for Scituate.
Mr. Sheerin is survived by a daughter Kathleen A. Johnson of Scituate, four sons Paul Jr. and his wife Patricia and James of Cohasset, Douglas of Scituate and Mark of Bonita Springs, FL. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his former wife Irene “Polly” (Woodaman) Sheerin and was the brother of the late Kathleen G. Barrett and Joseph G. Sheerin.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 18, at 9am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Scituate.
