Salem: Philip D. Moran, Jr., age 47 of Salem, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital from injuries sustained when he was struck by an MBTA bus Monday morning. He was the son of Celeste S. (Staples) Task of Bradford and the late Philip D. Moran, Sr.
Born in Beverly, he lived most of his life in Salem. A graduate of Salem High Class of ’81, Phil worked as a blender for Sun Burst Fruit Juices, Inc. of Salem for many years.
An avid all around sportsman, he enjoyed fishing with his buddy Jim, riding his bike everywhere and enjoying all the Boston sports teams. His true passion was the Bruins, and for many years was a season ticket holder for the Bruins. This led to his long time friendship with Terry O’Reilly for which he named his pet rabbit “Taz”. Phil also enjoyed horses and was a weekly regular at Suffolk Downs.
He was a very spiritual man who loved nature and music. With his camera ever present, he took many unique photos of various subjects. He maintained close ties to every one in his large extended family, always enjoying holidays and special events with them. Phil never missed an opportunity to remember family and friends on special occasions
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Timothy Weaver of Bradford, 2 brothers Steven M. Moran and his wife Candace of Groveland, Brian Moran of Beverly, a sister Jacqueline Task of Salem, 3 nieces, Emily, Gweneth & Ava Moran, 2 nephews, Anthony Moran & Jason Bakoian. He is also survived by 2 close cousins Kevin Mitchell and his wife Debi of Peabody and Jamie Mitchell of Beverly, as well as his long time friends, Jay Bakoian of Lynn, Ronald St. Pierre & Fred Votta both of Salem.
His visiting hours will be on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M. with his service at 7:30 P.M. in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem.
