Obituary

Muriel Gladys Stewart, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved daughter of the late Walter H. and Gladys P. (Weissbach) Stewart, died at the Winchester Hospital on Thursday, April 12, 2012. She was 98 years old.
Muriel was born in Medford on January 25, 1914. She was a graduate of Medford High School and Simmons College in Boston. She worked as an Executive Secretary for more than 40 years until her retirement from New England Life in 1979. An active lifelong member of the Congregational Church of West Medford, Muriel sang in the church choir for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Women’s Club at the church. In her spare time, Muriel enjoyed traveling, both domestically and abroad. Above all, Muriel was a very devoted aunt and friend to many.
She will be very sorely missed by her two loving nieces; Merilyn S. and her husband Ed Hafner and Gail S. Halvorsen all of Connecticut and great-niece and great-nephews; Erika, Jeffrey, Christopher and Mark. She was also the cherished sister of the late Richard W. Stewart.
Her Memorial Service was celebrated in the Congregational Church of West Medford, 400 High Street, W. Medford, Friday, April 20, 2012, at Noon. Many relatives and friends were in attendance.
