Ann M. (Barros) Offley Monteiro, 69, of New Bedford died April 11, 2012 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Robert R. Monteiro.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Pauline (Barros) Faria of New Bedford and the late Roy Andrews, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Monteiro was formerly employed as a cook with the New Bedford School Department for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed working at the polls on election day and scratch tickets.
Survivors include her mother; four sons, Robert Adam Monteiro of Leominster, MA, Richard Monteiro of New Britian, CT, Vern "Eddie" Cardoza of Wareham and Allan "T.T" Monteiro and his wife Shania of Hyannis; three daughters, Robin Offley Atkinson and her companion Desmond of New Bedford, Donna Offley Johnson and her husband Richard of Wareham and Alana "Poopsie" Monteiro of New Bedford; six sisters, Linda Robinson and her husband Ronnie and Alana Andrews, all of New Bedford, Gail Andrews, Joanne Andrews and Maryann Lanzo, all of Hyannis and Joyce Richardson of Nevada; a brother, Mark Antone of New Bedford, four stepchildren, Christopher DeMello of Fall River, Dorothy Andrews and Kelly DeMello, both of New Bedford and Tamara Sinkler of Boston; her Godmother, Tilly Lima of New Bedford; 24 grandchildren, Keayana, Patrick, Tyshawn, Curtis, Isaiah, Nicole, Rhondelle, Bradley, Tahlon, Tariq, Ciara, Allan, Naomi, Tiara, Elijah, Alex, Tamara, Shanelle, Jamal, Alexia, Trey, Destiny, Rick, and Kaelyse; five great-grandchildren; and several Godchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Anthony "Chico" Faria, Roy Andrews, Jr., T.C. Cope and Junior Andrews and the grandmother of the late Baby Allan, Keayana and Lolitta.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 17th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday, April 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
