Daniel J. Cardozo, 85, of Westport died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at home. He was the husband of Emelda L. (Whitworth) Cardozo, they were married for 63 years.
Born in Westport, he was son of the late Jacinto and Maria (Barboza) Cardozo. A Westport High School Class of 1945 graduate, he graduated from Brown University in 1954. Mr. Cardozo was a United States Army veteran. Prior to retirement, he was an electrical engineer for NUSC in Newport, RI and also McLaughlin Research in RI. He was a Communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.
Including his wife, he is survived by 3 sons: Thomas Cardozo and his wife Beth of Westford, MA, William Cardozo and his wife Marge of Westport and John Cardozo and his wife Kathy of Woodside, CA; 4 daughters: Nancy Machado and her husband Peter of Fairhaven, Judith Lepage and her husband Raymond of Tiverton, Joann Sunter and her husband Brian of Londonderry, NH and Linda Cardozo of Westport; a sister: Laura Raposa of Westport; 9 grandchildren: Jaimie, Jared, Victoria, Ryan, Andrew, Justin and Kevin Cardozo and Daniel and Amy Sunter.
He was brother of the late Arthur, Albert, Leonard, George and Joseph Cardozo, Diamentina Bento, Irene Azevedo and Beatrice Rezendes.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Monday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
